When I was younger I had severe acne, but now that I'm in my mid-twenties I don't deal with it near as much, thankfully!
Recently I had a pretty bad breakout, and although I wasn't really sure what caused it, I wanted to experiment with my essential oils to see what worked best for getting rid of them as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, my breakout consisted of those large, painful, under-the-skin pimples. On top of that, they appeared right around my mouth/chin area so I was feeling pretty self-conscious! That's okay though, it just motivated me to find a killer EO combo!
I experimented with a few of my Young Living essential oils (especially citrus oils), and they all helped, but the three oils I have chosen for my acne crusher combo seemed to work the quickest! If you've ever had these large under-the-skin pimples (nodules/cysts), then you know how LONG they take to clear up. Sometimes it can take a week or two before they disappear, and maybe longer if you don't leave it alone and let it heal without trying to pop it.
With this acne crusher combo, I was able to completely clear up in 3-4 days, with significant reduction after about 2 days.
Now here is a breakdown of the oils that I use in the combo and why I chose them:
Lavender
I chose lavender because it's a great oil for first-aid. It's often used on cuts, burns, and sores due to the calming effects it has. It really reduces irritation and kills germs! My Essential Oils Desk Reference says that Lavender essential oil combats excessive sebum on the skin and promotes tissue regeneration making it the perfect oil to add to my combo!
Frankincense
Frankincense tends to be known for fixing almost any ailment. Frankincense has been used for thousands of years and was worth more than gold in ancient times. I definitely believe it to be a very powerful oil, and I have read that it is great for the skin. It's also great for scars, therefore I wanted an oil that would prevent scarring since cystic acne always leaves terrible scars afterwards. Along with it's anti-inflammatory properties, I chose to add this oil to my combo!
Copaiba
Lastly, I added copaiba for its powerful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. I also chose it because it has been known to reduce pain. The reason that I layer this oil last is because it has magnifying effects which drive the other oils in deeper therefore amplifying the effects.
